“Tramp Art” Mirror

A 19th century tramp art mirror, of unusual shape and in beautiful condition.

Measuring 50 cm wide at the top, 40 cm wide at the bottom & 77 cm high.

Likely English but could be French or American.

Tramp art is a folk art style that was popular in both Europe and the USA from roughly 1870 to 1940.

Tramp art or this style of folk art is often characterized by using recycled materials, often cigar boxes and crates, to create layered, geometrically shaped pieces, often with notched or chip-carved edges. The art is typically made by untrained individuals using simple tools like penknives and each item is therefore completely unique and a one off.
