Large Tramp Art Crucifix

A wonderful large tramp art crucifix.

Intricate layers of notch carved wood, with a metal corpus hanging at height.

Tramp art was the general term given to ornaments, boxes, mirror frames and anything made by hand by untrained artisans from around 1880 to 1940 in both the USA and here in Great Britain. Each piece was naively made using easily obtained materials such as cigar boxes, natural wood & reclaimed fixtures & fittings and was popular with prisoners of war.
