A superb early 19th-century George IV period mahogany table-top display stand, expertly designed for showcasing substantial silver salvers, porcelain chargers, or framed artwork.
Of excellent colour and deep rich patina, the stand features a tapering vertical support column rising from a heavy, box-form rectangular plinth base. The base is beautifully detailed with a classic stepped-molding trim and flanked by two finely turned split-baluster wooden rests, which function as chocks to safely adjust the tilt-angle of displayed items.
In the manner of Gillows, English circa 1800-1830.
