A Heals “Sussex type” Armchair

A rare “Sussex type” armchair with original rush seat and an unusual design in that the stretchers are vertical, which means we can attribute this to being made by Heals as shown in their catalogue pictures in the listing.

Stretchers were commonly horizontal as seen in many of the “Morris & Co” designs & those sold through Liberty in London but this is a lovely variation.
